United by Mahler
0000: The concert under the baton of Maestro J. Hrůša aims to faithfully recreate the spirit and atmosphere of the historic premiere of Mahler's Symphony No. 7.
In 1908, Gustav Mahler conducted the world premiere of his Symphony No. 7 at the Prague Exhibition Grounds, leading a combined orchestra of the Czech Philharmonic and the New German Theatre in Prague. This concert under the baton of Maestro Jakub Hrůša aims to faithfully recreate the spirit and atmosphere of that historic premiere, featuring the Czech Philharmonic and the Bamberger Symphoniker - an orchestra which was founded by former members of the New German Theatre orchestra in Prague after they were expelled from Czechoslovakia following World War II.
