The Boy Who Dreams at FIFA 2025
A poetic portrait of Philippe Genty, visionary artist and master of visual theatre, selected at FIFA 2025.
Selected at the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) 2025, The Boy Who Dreams offers an intimate portrait of Philippe Genty, a leading figure in contemporary visual theatre and the visual arts. This film traces the inner journey of a man whose childhood dreams and early wounds shaped a lifelong exploration of the unconscious through imagery, puppetry, and poetic stagecraft.
In 2011, a stroke profoundly altered Genty’s life and creative process. Now 83 years old, he continues to work from his secluded studio in the forests of Brittany. Surrounded by the echoes of his past works and personal visions, he develops what may be his final show. For the first time, he opens the doors to this deeply symbolic world.
Through rare access and reflective storytelling, the film captures the delicate balance between memory and imagination, art and vulnerability. The Boy Who Dreams is both a tribute and a journey, celebrating the enduring creative force of one of the most imaginative artists of our time.
