Summer Festival Premieres – presented by Unitel
Browse the highlights of this summer in Unitel’s new Summer Festival Catalogue!
Summer time is Festival time, especially after two years of pandemic! So the European Summer Festivals presented a rich selection of great concerts and opera performances.
In Bregenz, Puccini's “Madama Butterfly” celebrated its first ever premiere on the world's largest lake stage - the production has not only already sold more than 150,000 tickets (and tickets for the revival in summer 2023 are already almost sold out) but has also been a hit on TV with more than one million viewers in the first weeks alone.
The Arena di Verona celebrated Franco Zeffirelli, who would have turned 100 in February 2023, with two of his legendary productions: “Carmen” and “Turandot” - each with a star-studded cast and for the first time produced in UHD.
The Rossini Opera Festival presented “Le Comte Ory” featuring Juan Diego Flórez in the title role and Rossini’s version of “Otello”.
The BBC Proms celebrated this summer the 150th anniversary of the Royal Albert Hall of which four concerts were made available for word-wide distribution, including the performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony by Chineke! Orchestra and Voices – Europe’s first black and ethnically diverse orchestra and choir. “Beethoven’s Ninth should always be as exhilarating as this” (Financial Times).
And of course not to miss is the Salzburg Festival, featured here as well as in the special catalogue dedicated only to it.
