Summer Concerts from Vienna to Munich
From Vienna’s Prater to Munich’s Odeonsplatz: Unitel blue presents two open air concerts – with another major Munich event just ahead.
Two spectacular open-air concerts bring star performers, popular repertoire and the atmosphere of summer nights in Vienna and Munich to the screen.
Against the unmistakable backdrop of Vienna’s Giant Ferris Wheel, the Wiener Symphoniker turn the Prater into a vast open-air concert hall. Conductor Holly Hyun Choe is joined by Rolando Villazón, soprano Ilia Staple and singer-songwriter TEYA for an entertaining programme crossing the borders between opera, classical favourites, musical theatre and pop. The concert’s broad appeal was reflected in its successful ORF 2 broadcast.
At Munich’s magnificent Odeonsplatz, the Münchner Philharmoniker and Lahav Shani are joined by violinist María Dueñas for Bruch’s beloved Violin Concerto No. 1. Wagner’s Flying Dutchman Overture and Mendelssohn’s Scottish Symphony complete a programme combining a celebrated soloist, great orchestral repertoire and one of Europe’s most impressive open-air settings.
The Munich story continues with another outstanding production – live on 18 September: Lahav Shani’s inaugural concerts as Chief Conductor of the Münchner Philharmoniker, featuring Martha Argerich in Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G, alongside Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms and Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.
The Prater Picknick concert is a production of ORF 2, the Odeonsplatz Konzert is a production of BR – both in co-production with Unitel blue
