San Francisco Dance Film Festival (SFDFF) announces its 2025 lineup featuring over 90 global dance films in 18 diverse programs that spotlight the power of movement in all its forms.

In-person screenings will take place from 24 October - 09 November at theaters throughout San Francisco. For international audiences, SFDFF’s Online Festival presents a curated selection of short film programs, complemented by online-only feature films.

Moving documentaries about groundbreaking artists lead the feature-length films. SFDFF 2025 opens with the world premiere of TILER PECK: SUSPENDING TIME, a six-year chronicle of the celebrated New York City Ballet dancer navigating injury and reinvention. FAREWELL, OPERA follows three Paris Opera Ballet dancers as they face compulsory retirement. DON’T PUT ME IN A BOX steps inside the mind of visionary choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. THE DANCER traces the extraordinary journey of Syrian refugee Ahmad Joudeh.

SFDFF’s history of presenting screendance continues with a diverse array of nine curated short film programs. Representing a variety of contemporary and traditional dance styles, these films expertly blend choreography, cinematography, and music to explore topics that delve into the human condition.

The Online Festival streams worldwide from 10 November - 30 November. Highlights include JUST DANCE THE STEPS, an intimate portrait of Dutch legend HANS VAN MANEN; THE BLACK PRINCE, a behind-the-scenes look at Royal Swedish Ballet’s Gustavia; and THE ALCHEMIST’S DANCE, a profile of flamenco icon María Pagés.
