Rose d'Or for 3 minutes West
3 minutes West's capture of Betroffenheit for BBC Four wins a coveted Rose d'Or Award in the Arts category 2018 competition.
Producer Adrienne Liron and Director Jeff Tudor received the award at the 57th Rose d'Or ceremony on 13 September 2018 in Berlin.
BETROFFENHEIT is an intensely powerful dance-theatre hybrid co-created by choreographer Crystal Pite and actor/writer Jonathon Young. It is based on Young's own experiences dealing with grief and addiction, after his teenage daughter, niece and nephew died in a fire.
Combining tap, salsa, spoken word, song and puppetry with Pite's emotionally charged choreography, Betroffenheit is a witty and tender-hearted exploration of disconnection, isolation and what it means to come to terms with such a tragedy. This genre-busting production won the Dance Critics' top pick of 2016, and the 2017 Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production. Jonathon Young was also deservedly awarded Outstanding Performance in Modern Dance at the Critics' Circle National Dance Awards - an amazing achievement for an actor who has not had any dance training.
The production was captured for BBC Four by Jeff Tudor, during its sell-out run at Sadler's Wells Theatre, London.
BETROFFENHEIT will be released for international sales in Autumn 2018.
