Paris Opera 17/18 season marked by big events!
A new season marked by lyrical, choreographic and musical big events: Don Carlos, Tchaikovsky Cycle, La Bohème, Play, Boris Godunov and Don Pasquale.
Krzysztof Warlikowski introduced the very first version of this grand opera in five acts Don Carlos, which Verdi himself amended for the work’s world premiere in 1867. Philippe Jordan conducts an exceptional cast that includes Ildar Abdrazakov, Jonas Kaufmann, Ludovic Tézier, Sonya Yoncheva and Elīna Garanča.
Ebullient figure in the world of contemporary dance, Alexander Ekman has been invited for the first time to work with the Paris Opera Ballet. In his new creation Play, set to music by Mikael Karlsson, the Swedish choreographer gives us a surprising production carried along by a lively rhythm and an innately communicative energy.
Philippe Jordan presents a Tchaikovsky Cycle during which he conducts the six Symphonies in three concerts given by the Paris Opera Orchestra at the Opéra Bastille and the Philharmonie de Paris.
Other 17/18 audiovisual productions:
• La Bohème / Giacomo Puccini, staging by Claus Guth, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, with Nicole Car, Aida Garifullina, Atalla Ayan, Artur Ruciński and Alessio Arduini
• Boris Godunov / Modest Mussorgsky, staging by Ivo Van Hove, conducted by Vladimir Jurowski, with Ildar Abdrazakov, Ruzan Mantashyan, Maxim Paster and Boris Pinkhasovich
• Don Pasquale / Gaetano Donizetti, staging by Damiano Michieletto, conducted by Evelino Pidò, with Michele Pertusi, Florian Sempey, Lawrence Brownlee, Nadine Sierra and Frédéric Guieu
