MET STARS LIVE IN CONCERT with Jonas Kaufmann
Superstar tenor Jonas Kaufmann sings a program of classic arias, live from the ornate Polling Abbey located in the rolling Bavarian countryside outside Munich, Germany.
The grand Baroque interior of the historic venue, built in the 1770s with soaring vaulted ceilings and breathtaking frescoes inspired by the arts, serves as a perfect setting for a performance showing off Kaufmann’s prowess in a collection of strenuous and spectacular showcases for the tenor voice. The Selection includes “Nessun dorma” from Turandot, “E lucevan le stelle” from TOSCA, “Ah! lève-toi, soleil” from Roméo et Juliette, and “La fleur que tu m’avais jetée” from Carmen, among many others.
“Kaufmann was in excellent voice with his dark, burnished sound giving dramatic depth and urgency to every note that he sang.” - Seen and Heard International
"It was the kind of chamber music magic reserved for the recital hall and generally not heard in this repertory." - Operawire
