Pentatone has been awarded not one, but two ICMAs in the categories “Best Label” + “Vocal Music” for Ian Bostridge’s new album “Winterreise” with Thomas Adès.

The ICMA Award Ceremony would have taken place in Sevilla on 30 April. However, it was cancelled due to the developments of the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the IMZ presented the awards to the label in the course of an intimate evening at Theater an der Wien and in compliance with all security regulations.

Managing Director of Pentatone Simon Eder was accompanied by music stars Piotr Bezcala, Anna Lucia Richter and Arabella Steinbacher, who also received the awards in representation of their label.

The IMZ is part of the jury of international experts of the renowned ICMA International Classical Music Award every year. In the words of Dr. Franz Patay, ICMA Juror, Legal Counsel of the IMZ and CEO at VBW:

“The International Classical Music Awards recognise creativity, imagination in choice of repertoire and artistic excellence. We are honoured to award PENTATONE in the categories „Vocal Music“ and „Label of the Year“ in recognition of their exceptional catalogue, the unrivaled classical music experience they offer and the superior audio quality of their work!”
