Deutsche Oper Berlin: Umberto Giordano’s Fedora
A jewel of Italian verismo, staged by Christof Loy.
Christof Loy brings Fedora, a jewel of Italian verismo, to the stage of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. The multi-award-winning director, who only last year added another International Opera Award to his list of accolades, lays bare the eponymous character in all her multi-faceted ambiguity, coaxing masterly performances from his singers and presenting a complex interplay of relationships, assisted by the work of set and costumes designer Herbert Murauer. Having garnered glowing notices in Stockholm and Frankfurt, Fedora has now arrived in Berlin.
The premiere of Fedora on 27 November will be recorded by rbb (audio) and broadcast live on radio3. The performances on 30 November & 2 December will be recorded audio-visually. The performance on 2 December will be broadcast as a livestream on STAGE+ and medici.tv. In addition, a Blu-ray of this production will be produced as a collaboration between EuroArts, rbb and the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
