Dang Thai Son: A Legacy in Harmony
0000: Vietnamese piano master Dang Thai Son returns to Switzerland with four brilliant students, offering a recital of Chopin and virtuosic mastery.
Vietnamese-Canadian virtuoso Dang Thai Son, winner of the 1980 Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, returns to Switzerland, at the Athénée Palace, for a rare and exceptional recital. The first Asian pianist to win this prestigious prize, he captivated the world with his luminous touch and profound musicality, earning eleven awards in one competition, an unprecedented feat.
Born in Hanoi and trained at Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Dang Thai Son has since graced the world’s most renowned stages, from New York’s Lincoln Center and London’s Barbican to Paris’s Salle Pleyel and Tokyo’s Suntory Hall. His artistry, refined yet deeply emotional, has been immortalized in recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, CBS Sony, and Victor JVC, establishing him as one of today’s most poetic interpreters of Chopin.
For this special concert, Dang Thai Son is joined by four of his prodigious students Sophia Liu, JJ Jun Li Bui, Zitong Wang, and Kai-Min Chang, already acclaimed winners of international competitions. Together, they embody a vibrant dialogue between generations, where mastery meets youthful brilliance. Expect a night of elegance, passion, and pure piano artistry, a celebration of musical excellence that bridges past and future with grace.
