Boris Giltburg launches Beethoven Sonata cycle at Flagey

Flagey has launched an ambitious long-term project with internationally acclaimed pianist Boris Giltburg, who is performing the complete cycle of Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas over two seasons (2025–26 and 2026–27). Following the first recitals in October, the journey continues this month with two concerts on 20 and 23 November in Studio 4, Flagey (Brussels).

Winner of the 2013 Queen Elisabeth Competition and a frequent collaborator of the Brussels Philharmonic, Giltburg is celebrated for his artistic depth, lyrical intensity, and intellectual insight. With his Beethoven32 project — which began in 2020 with the recording and filming of all 32 sonatas — he now brings the entire cycle to life in public performance, culminating in 2027, Beethoven’s next anniversary year.

This Beethoven focus at Flagey also features the Choral Fantasy with the Brussels Philharmonic, the Flemish Radio Choir and Boris Giltburg, as well as the Cello Sonata No. 5 in D major performed by Aleksey Shadrin and Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort, offering audiences a rich panorama of Beethoven’s creative world.
