From 30 October to 7 November 2022, global audiences will enjoy streaming access through Eventive alongside select in-person screenings in San Francisco, continuing availability for new online followers while marking a joyous return to theaters.

The festival will open with the San Francisco theatrical screening of SPOTLIGHT SHORTS, a collection of some of the most joyous and provocative dance film shorts from this year’s official selections. Featuring work by Bay Area and international filmmakers, this eclectic programme should serve as a delightful appetizer for the full programming to come.

Documentaries about a trailblazing figure and a transformative personal story lead the feature-length films. BELLA is a resonant and timely portrait of artist/activist Bella Lewitzky. And LIFT tells the astounding story of Steven Melendez, who went from living in homeless shelters in NYC, to achieving worldwide recognition as a ballet dancer.

Streaming globally on Eventive will be seven programmes of international short dance films from 20 countries. Highlights include CARVING SPACES, featuring dance in unusual and daring new places unique to the screen and RITUALS & RIDDLES, bold narrative stories from four continents. Also streaming is the Live Performance Capture THINGS THAT MAKE US MOVE showcasing how Daegu City Dance Company transform an entire theater – the stage, lobby, and stairwells – into an immersive, site-specific experience.
