Richard Strauss’ “Elektra” with extraordinary staging by Krzysztof Warlikowski, conducted by Franz Welser-Möst was one of the highlights of this year's Salzburg Festival. Aušrinė Stundytė (Elektra) and Asmik Grigorian (Chrysothemis) star in this spectacular opera production.
Furthermore, Mozart’s “Cosí fan tutte” was performed in this 100 year edition of the Salzburg festival starring Elsa Dreisig (Fiordiligi), Marianne Crebassa (Dorabella), André Schuen (Guglielmo), Bogdan Volkov (Ferrando), Lea Desandre (Despina) and Johannes Martin Kränzle (Don Alfonso). The Vienna Philharmonic were conducted by Joana Mallwitz. The BR Klassik praised this opera staged by Christof Loy: “this ‘Cosí’ ties in with the great Salzburg Mozart tradition, the vocal quality and ensemble spirit.”
Last but not least: “Jedermann”. What would the Salzburg Festival be without this iconic play by Hugo von Hofmannsthal? Tobias Moretti, Peter Lohmeyer and Caroline Peters make this “Jedermann” memorable.
