Tansman / Bruch – Works for Violin and Orchestra
Viviane Hagner and the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra under Łukasz Borowicz present a remarkable new album with works by Tansman and Bruch.
Accentus Music is proud to present a remarkable new recording that brings together the works of two masterful yet distinct voices of European music: Alexandre Tansman (1897–1986) and Max Bruch (1838–1920). Performed by internationally acclaimed violinist Viviane Hagner, together with the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Łukasz Borowicz, this release offers a unique musical journey that highlights overlooked yet profoundly expressive repertoire.
The album features Tansman’s vibrant Violin Concerto and the charming Cinq Pièces pour violon et petit orchestre, works that embody the composer’s refined craftsmanship, cosmopolitan style, and subtle infusions of his Jewish heritage. Complementing these are Bruch’s emotive Konzertstück for violin and orchestra and his celebrated Kol Nidrei, a composition deeply rooted in Jewish prayer tradition and long cherished for its lyrical intensity.
With this release, Accentus Music seeks to shine renewed light on Tansman’s underperformed works while celebrating Bruch’s enduring contributions to the violin repertoire. Together, these pieces offer listeners a rich and nuanced exploration of Central European musical heritage—one that blends lyricism, cultural memory, and artistic dialogue.
