There's always something special about experiencing Mozart in Salzburg; he might have been impatient to leave his home town, but nowhere has his legacy been cherished with more love – or imagination. A great name in the world of opera, Rolando Villazón, directs this production of Die Zauberflöte, performed in the week of Mozart's 270th birthday in the near-perfect surroundings of Salzburg's Haus für Mozart. Roberto González-Monjas conducts the Mozarteum Orchestra and Franz-Josef Selig (Sarastro) and Kathryn Lewek (The Queen of the Night) head a superb cast in this vibrant new staging of the world's most popular comic opera.
