Maurice Béjart (1.1.1927-22.11.2007), one of the greatest choreographers of the 20th century and Jorge Donn (25.2.1947-30.11.1992), the celebrated Argentine dancer, reshaped the world of dance together. With Béjart’s ballet company Ballet du XXe siècle, Donn rose to international fame, becoming its leading performer.
Marking what would have been Béjart's 100th birthday, this documentary uses compelling and deeply moving archival footage to bring Jorge Donn, the dancer driven by passion, back to life.
Becoming Béjart’s favourite performer, his muse and his lover, Donn brings a new form of masculinity to the stage: intense, vulnerable and deeply sensitive. At the height of his artistry, his health begins to fail, his great love drifts away, and his body betrays him, weakened by AIDS. Yet tirelessly, Donn continues to create and to dance until the very end, made immortal in his final performance of Ravel’s Boléro.
