Ólafsson & Eliasson: Goldberg Variations
Víkingur Ólafsson and Olafur Eliasson unite Bach’s Goldberg Variations with a captivating visual world.
Víkingur Ólafsson’s performance of Bach’s Goldberg Variations becomes an extraordinary late-night experience in this collaboration with artist Olafur Eliasson, created for the Lucerne Festival’s Pulse – a mini-festival curated by Ólafsson in 2026. The Grammy-winning pianist performs Bach’s monumental cycle within Eliasson’s installation The Shadows of Sounds and the Unforeseeable Shapes of Love, transforming the translucent marble walls of the Piuskirche in Meggen into an ever-changing landscape. Moving between meditation and near hallucination, this immersive concert invites audiences to experience Bach’s endlessly unfolding masterpiece in an entirely new way.
