For the final opera in Donizetti’s Tudor trilogy, the Met has assembled an ideal cast with an insightful conductor, Maurizio Benini. In the Met’s new production of Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles Diana Damrau leads a dream cast opposite Matthew Polenzani and Mariusz Kwiecien. Would you expect the son of one of the richest tycoons in the world to be a prolific composer? For his first series of concerts as Chief Conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, maestro Daniele Gatti conducts Mahler's iconic Symphony No. 2 Tremendous choirs, enthralling musical portrayals of the creation of light, paradise, a stunning duet of the first people - this is Joseph Haydn's Creation Showing opera stars Bettina Mönch and Andreas Bieber amongst others combined with a unique visual and musical design, conducted by Lorenz C. Aichner. Phenomenal pianist Marc-André Hamelin is a virtuoso in the true meaning of the word.

Czech Television and NordicStories (NOR) finished shooting of a co-production dance film Closed in December 2016. In co-production with Ozango Productions (FR), Czech Television participates in the recording of a concert of Collegium 1704, a Prague baroque orchestra and vocal ensemble. Frankfurt Opera presents Handel’s opera Xerxes in a new staging, featuring rising mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez in the title role Through his masterpiece Guiseppe Verdi provides an insight into the causes of revenge, social exclusion and the construct of misinterpreted love. At the Baroque Days 2017 in Melk one musical highlight will chase the other with matinees, night concerts, musical baroque and modern cross-over events! The musical highlights of this exceptional concert will be featured by pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. As crowning point of the Brahms Cycle with The Cleveland Orchestra under the baton of Franz Welser-Möst, the composer’s great choral work was recorded. A co-production documentary about famous Czech harpsichordist Zuzana Ružicková who will soon celebrate her 90th birthday.
