New On CD: J.S. Bach – Goldberg Variations – Zhu Xiao-Mei – The New Recording
Since her first pioneering recording of the Goldberg Variations more than twenty years ago, Zhu Xiao-Mei has played the work several hundred times at recitals all over the world. Through the encounter with the audience she has evolved a new vision of the work, which she is now presenting to listeners in the form of this new CD recording.
New On DVD & Blu-ray: LUCERNE FESTIVAL 2015 – Andris Nelsons – Gustav Mahler
Andris Nelsons conducted the Lucerne Festival Orchestra for the third time in August 2015 – the orchestra’s second summer without its founder and guiding spirit Claudio Abbado. The DVD and Blu-ray of this concert with Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 and selected songs from Des Knaben Wunderhorn, sung by Matthias Goerne, will be released in May 2016.
New Production: Happy Birthday Zubin Mehta!
In April, on the occasion of Zubin Mehta’s 80th birthday, the Accentus Music crew travelled to a quite unusual place for a concert recording: the conductor’s birthplace Mumbai in order to produce two mesmerizing celebratory concerts – both with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of the Indian Maestro himself.
A Superb New Otello From The Salzburg Easter Festival
This Salzburg production – featuring “a cast worthy of any festival” (Südwestpresse) – is conducted by Christian Thielemann, who displays a command of Verdian tragedy to match his celebrated sovereignty in Wagner, “Thielemann has discovered an impressively modern sound for Verdi” (Süddeutsche Zeitung).
Swan Lake Reloaded – Tchaikovsky Meets Streetdance
Swedish choreographer Fredrik Rydman creates a twenty-first century take on Swan Lake, bringing in street dance, contemporary dance, pop music, electro, smartphones and special effects to transform the ballet classic.
For the Europakonzert 2016 in Norway, the Berliner Philharmoniker and conductor Sir Simon Rattle were joined by the Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang – making for a truly Nordic concert.
